Working Manchester Pride Festival – September 2008 to August 2009
Manchester Pride is a charity in its own right, with a main goal of raising funds for a variety of LGBT charities and organisations within Greater Manchester.
Reasons: The role is a voluntary role, as the Director of Marketing Manchester is also on the board of charity directors. Therefore we are involved in supporting the charity’s fundraising objectives alongside other contracted roles.
Activity: I am involved in writing press releases for Pride, which will involve anything from the artists line up, event submissions, parade entries, community news etc. For examples of the press releases please visit: www.manchesterpride.com/press
Recording media coverage is important to evaluating the Pride campaign. Examples of work:

Writing interviews is part of the press role for Pride, recently I have written interview questions for Christopher Biggins from Queer As Folk and Little Boots, the new electro-pop princess who is a confirmed artist for the main stage.
Manchester Pride Interviews
A main part of my role is to prepare, set up and proactively find interviewing opportunities to increase the promotion of the festival.
Hot Village is a publication given out for free around Manchester’s gay village and this is the work I have written for the magazine.
OutNorthWest Magazine
This magazine is one of the publications that Manchester Pride works closely with. There was a lot of material used from press releases and information they requested used within the August issue of the magazine.
